The Chief Advisor – Monitoring & Assurance for Capital Projects at Eskom plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the organizations capital initiatives are executed efficiently, transparently, and in compliance with regulatory and corporate governance standards. This senior leadership position involves oversight of project performance, risk management, and assurance activities, providing expert guidance to executives and project teams to safeguard Eskoms capital investments. The ideal candidate will have a strategic mindset, strong analytical skills, and extensive experience in monitoring, auditing, and assurance of large-scale infrastructure or energy projects.
Develop and implement robust monitoring and assurance frameworks for all capital projects.
Provide independent oversight and expert advice to executive management on project performance, risk, and compliance.
Conduct comprehensive assessments of project execution, including financial, operational, and technical performance.
Ensure adherence to Eskoms policies, industry standards, and statutory requirements across all capital projects.
Identify potential risks, control gaps, and inefficiencies, and recommend actionable improvements.
Lead audits and assurance reviews, presenting findings and recommendations to the Board and senior management.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment of project objectives with organizational strategy.
Mentor and guide junior team members within the monitoring and assurance function.
Stay abreast of global best practices in capital project management, monitoring, and assurance.
Bachelors degree in Engineering, Finance, Project Management, or related field; a Masters degree is preferred.
Professional certifications such as PMP, CISA, CIA, or relevant project assurance qualifications.
Strong knowledge of corporate governance, risk management frameworks, and capital project management principles.
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of influencing senior executives.
Proficiency in project management and monitoring software tools.
Minimum of 10–15 years experience in monitoring, assurance, project management, or audit roles within the energy, infrastructure, or related sectors.
Proven track record in leading large-scale capital projects, ensuring compliance, and delivering strategic insights to senior management.
Experience in risk assessment, internal controls, and governance frameworks for complex projects.
Full-time role with standard working hours; flexibility may be required to attend project reviews, audits, and executive meetings.
