Job Summary

This position is designed for aspiring millwrights who wish to gain practical experience and technical proficiency in the maintenance, installation, and repair of industrial machinery. The role focuses on hands-on learning, preparing candidates for their trade tests while fostering career growth within Eskoms dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the maintenance, assembly, and repair of turbines, generators, and other heavy industrial equipment.

• Support experienced artisans in diagnosing mechanical faults and implementing corrective actions.

• Participate in practical training sessions to develop skills in welding, fitting, precision measurement, and alignment.

• Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and machinery in safe and optimal working condition.

• Follow safety protocols and Eskoms operational standards during all tasks.

• Document work activities, maintenance logs, and progress reports under supervision.

• Prepare for the trade test by practicing technical procedures and adhering to industry best practices.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Matric / National Senior Certificate (or equivalent) with a focus on Mathematics and Physical Science.

• Strong interest in mechanical and industrial maintenance.

• Basic technical understanding of machinery and mechanical systems.

• Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions accurately.

• Commitment to learn and grow within the artisan trade.

Experience

• No prior work experience required; however, exposure to mechanical workshops or technical environments is advantageous.

• Enthusiasm for hands-on learning and willingness to engage in structured training programs.

Working Hours

• Standard Eskom operating hours apply.

• Flexible scheduling may be required depending on workshop and training needs.
