Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and results‑driven Senior Engineer – Professional Electrical Plant Performance to join our Power Generation division. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in optimizing the performance, reliability, and efficiency of electrical plant systems across Eskoms power stations. You will lead technical initiatives, provide expert engineering guidance, and drive continuous improvement to support safe and sustainable electricity generation across South Africa.
Lead and coordinate electrical performance monitoring, analysis, and reporting across multiple plant systems to ensure optimal operational efficiency.
Develop, implement, and maintain strategies for improving electrical plant performance, reliability, and availability.
Provide expert technical support and problem resolution for complex electrical equipment and system issues.
Drive engineering studies, fault investigations, and root cause analysis to mitigate repeat failures.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including maintenance, operations, and capital projects to implement solutions and improvements.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, Eskom policies, and regulatory requirements related to electrical plant performance.
Mentor and guide junior engineers and technical staff to build internal capabilities and knowledge sharing.
Contribute to risk management, safety reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
Professional Engineering (PE) registration or equivalent certification preferred.
Strong understanding of electrical power systems, high‑voltage distribution, protection, and control systems.
Demonstrated experience with performance analytics, electrical diagnostics, and technical reporting.
Proficiency in engineering software tools used for modeling, simulation, and performance evaluation.
Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
A minimum of 8–10 years experience in electrical engineering within heavy industrial, power generation, or utility environments.
Prior experience in plant performance optimization and electrical equipment lifecycle management is highly desirable.
Proven track record of leading complex engineering projects and delivering measurable performance improvements.
Standard office hours are 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday).
Due to the nature of plant operations, occasional extended hours, on‑call duties, and site visits may be required.
In‑depth knowledge of electrical plant operations, safety standards, and regulatory compliance.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with attention to technical detail.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing operational priorities.
Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
Proficiency in digital tools for data analysis and performance tracking.
