Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd is seeking motivated and disciplined individuals to join the organization as Technicians in Training (TIT) specialising in Heavy Current systems. This program is designed to develop future technical professionals who will support and sustain Eskoms critical electrical infrastructure. As a TIT, you will participate in structured training, hands‑on technical work, and mentorship initiatives to build expertise in installation, maintenance, fault‑finding, and operation of heavy current electrical equipment and systems. Participate in the Eskom Technician in Training program and complete all assigned technical modules.
Assist with the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of heavy current electrical systems, including high‑voltage and low‑voltage equipment.
Conduct routine inspections and testing of electrical machinery to ensure reliability and safety compliance.
Support fault‑finding and corrective maintenance activities under supervision.
Record and report technical findings, work progress, and anomalies to supervisors.
Adhere strictly to Eskom safety standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Engage in continuous learning and demonstrate progress toward competency milestones.
Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to project goals.
National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) with Mathematics and Physical Science; additional technical subjects advantageous.
Completed technical diploma, trade certificate, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred (but not mandatory for all TIT intakes).
Basic understanding of electrical principles and heavy current systems.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to interpret technical documentation and schematics.
Proficiency in using basic hand tools and testing equipment.
Willingness to work outdoors and in varied environmental conditions.
Entry‑level role; minimal formal work experience required.
Prior technical internships, apprenticeships, or practical training in electrical environments is an advantage.
Demonstrated interest in electrical engineering or heavy current systems through projects, coursework, or practical exposure.
Standard working hours are typically Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.
Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, or overtime may be required depending on operational demands and training schedules.
On‑call duties may be part of the role during certain deployment phases.
Strong mechanical and electrical instincts with good problem‑solving ability.
Willingness to learn and improve technical capabilities continuously.
