Job Summary

Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd, South Africas leading electricity utility, is seeking ambitious and talented graduates in Electrical Engineering to join our Graduate Development Programme. This role provides a structured and hands-on learning environment designed to develop future technical experts and leaders in the energy sector. Graduates will gain exposure to diverse areas within electrical engineering, including power generation, transmission, distribution, and maintenance, while contributing to Eskoms mission to deliver reliable and sustainable electricity to the nation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in a structured graduate training program including rotations across multiple engineering departments.

  • Assist with design, operation, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment.

  • Analyze technical problems and propose effective solutions in collaboration with senior engineers.

  • Support project planning, execution, and reporting in electrical engineering projects.

  • Conduct field inspections and site visits to assess system performance and compliance with safety standards.

  • Contribute to research and innovation initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and sustainability of electrical systems.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and technical reports for projects and assignments.

  • Adhere to Eskoms safety, quality, and environmental policies at all times.


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering (BEng/BSc Eng) from a recognized institution.

  • Strong foundation in electrical power systems, electronics, and instrumentation.

  • Proficiency in engineering software tools and MS Office Suite.

  • Analytical thinking with problem-solving capabilities.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

  • Commitment to ethical practices and safety standards.


Experience

  • Recent graduates or candidates with 0–2 years of practical experience in electrical engineering are eligible.

  • Internship or project experience in power systems, renewable energy, or industrial electrical applications is advantageous.


Working Hours

  • Standard full-time hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.

  • Flexibility may be required for field assignments, site visits, and project deadlines.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Comprehensive understanding of electrical engineering principles and applications.

  • Familiarity with power generation, transmission, and distribution systems.

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills for technical problem solving.
