Job Description

We are looking for a highly technical Telecom Engineer specializing in SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) to design, implement, and maintain our next-generation VoIP and Unified Communications (UC) infrastructure. In this role, you will be the subject matter expert for signaling protocols, responsible for ensuring high-quality voice and video sessions across global networks.

You will spend your time under the hood of communication flows, troubleshooting complex call routing issues, and optimizing Session Border Controllers (SBCs) to ensure secure and seamless interoperability between various carriers and endpoints.

Key Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Design: Architect and deploy scalable SIP-based networks, including SIP Proxies, Registrars, and Redirect Servers.

  • SBC Management: Configure and manage Session Border Controllers (e.g., AudioCodes, Ribbon, or Oracle) to handle NAT traversal, security, and protocol normalization.

  • Protocol Analysis: Perform deep-packet inspection using Wireshark or SIPP to analyze SIP ladders (INVITE, 200 OK, ACK, BYE) and diagnose signaling failures.

  • Trunking & Interoperability: Set up and maintain SIP Trunks with Tier-1 carriers and ensure compatibility between diverse hardware/software endpoints.

  • Call Quality Optimization: Monitor and tune Media-layer parameters including RTP/SRTP, jitter buffers, and codecs (G.711, G.729, Opus) to ensure crystal-clear audio.

  • Security & Compliance: Implement SIP security best practices, including TLS for signaling encryption and STIR/SHAKEN to mitigate robocalling and spoofing.

Requirements

  • Experience: 3–6 years of hands-on experience in Telecom Engineering with a heavy focus on VoIP and SIP signaling.

  • Education: Bachelor degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.

  • Technical Depth: Deep understanding of the RFC 3261 standard and related protocols like SDP, RTP, and RTCP.

  • Networking: Solid grasp of TCP/UDP, IP routing, and QoS (Quality of Service) tagging (DSCP/CoS).

Technical Stack & Certifications

  • Certifications: SSCA® (SIP School Certified Associate) is highly preferred. CCNA/CCNP Collaboration is a major plus.

  • Tools: Proficiency with Wireshark, SIPp, Homar/HEPic, and various Linux-based SIP servers (Kamailio, Asterisk, or FreeSWITCH).

  • Cloud: Experience with cloud-based voice platforms like Microsoft Teams Direct Routing, Zoom Phone, or AWS Chime.

Work Details

  • Location: Canada.

  • Schedule: Full-time, with on-call rotation for critical infrastructure support.

  • Compensation: Average salaries for SIP specialists in 2026 range from ₹18L – ₹35L (India) or $95k – $140k (North America), depending on seniority.

  • Benefits: * Access to high-end lab environments for testing and simulation.

    • Support for ongoing SSCA® or vendor-specific certifications.

    • Comprehensive health and wellness packages.
