We are seeking a visionary Principal Machine Learning Engineer to join our technology hub in Bengaluru, India Silicon Valley. This is a top-tier leadership role designed for an expert who can operate at the intersection of advanced mathematics, large-scale systems architecture, and business strategy.

As a Principal Engineer, you will not only be a hands-on coder but also the primary architect of our AI roadmap. You will solve the unsolved problems—scaling models to hundreds of millions of users, architecting specialized LLM (Large Language Model) infrastructures, and defining the engineering standards that will govern our entire AI division.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Architecture: Design the overarching ML blueprint for the organization, ensuring cross-functional compatibility between data science, engineering, and product.

• Technical Leadership: Lead the transition from traditional ML to modern Generative AI and Agentic Workflows, evaluating the cost-benefit of build vs. buy (e.g., fine-tuning Llama-3 vs. proprietary APIs).

• System Scalability: Architect distributed training systems and high-concurrency inference engines capable of sub-100ms latency.

• MLOps Excellence: Standardize the global AI lifecycle, from feature stores and data versioning to automated drift detection and Human-in-the-Loop feedback systems.

• R&D and Innovation: Stay ahead of the curve by prototyping emerging technologies (e.g., RAG, Vector Databases, Quantization) and converting academic research into commercial value.

• Influence & Mentorship: Serve as a member of the Architecture Review Board and mentor Staff and Senior Engineers to foster a world-class engineering culture.

Requirements

• Education: PhD or Masters in Computer Science, AI, or a highly quantitative field from a premier institute (IIT, IISc, or international equivalent).

• Experience: 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5+ years specifically focused on deploying complex ML systems in production.

• Scale Experience: Proven track record of managing systems at Internet Scale (petabytes of data or millions of daily active users).

• Programming Mastery: Exceptional proficiency in Python and C++ or Java/Scala.

Technical Stack

• Deep Learning: PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow.

• Generative AI: LangChain, LlamaIndex, vLLM, and experience with vector DBs (Milvus, Pinecone, or Weaviate).

• Big Data: Spark, Flink, and NoSQL databases.

• Infrastructure: Kubernetes (K8s), Docker, and GPU orchestration (NVIDIA Triton).

• Cloud: Advanced mastery of AWS (SageMaker), GCP (Vertex AI), or Azure.
